2018 - A Seasons Review - What a Year!

28th November 2018

Last year was a huge learning curve for me, I don’t mind admitting that I was naive to think it would be easy to turn up and win straight away when I started car racing. The reality was, cars are different to karts, and Formula Ford is an extremely competitive class, its been no easy feat, but I’ve come a long way since, and I’m so thankful to have done so with such an incredible team.

Here are a few Stats from my past 8 months on track . . .

🔺2nd in the British National Championship

🔺1st in the Tourist Trophy National Championship

🔺2nd in the Triple Crown Trophy National Championship

🔺Four Times Champion of Brands, and Bert Ray Memorial Trophy Winner

🔺Mazda Road To Indy Shootout Qualifier

🔺Double Podium Finisher on Debut race in America and F2000

🔺2018 Motorsport Awards Nominee for ‘Star of the Future’

🔺10 Race Wins at Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Oulton Park & Castle Combe - 20%

🔺29 Podiums at Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Castle Combe, Donington Park, Croft & Kirkistown - 59%

🔺14 Fastest Laps - 29%

🔺10 Pole Positions - 20%

🔺39 Top 6 Finishes - 80%

🔺43 Top 10 Finishes - 88%

🔺5 DNF’s - 10%

🔺49 - Races In Total

We have achieved many things this year, but I have also grown as a person, I’m much stronger on the track and much more relaxed in the paddock, something that I will undoubtedly build on further, with more experience.

The Kevin Mills Racing team have been immense throughout my time with them, I’ve had the best two years. I really look forward to getting back out in the car and with the team at some stage. I honestly can’t thank all of you enough! 🙏🏻

The Future 🇺🇸

My plan for next season is to run USF2000 in America. I want a shot at winning the championship, doing so would allow me to progress to Pro Mazda, another step towards my end goal of racing in IndyCar. In order to achieve this, the next few months have to fall in to place perfectly, I am making loads of connections as we speak and doing everything in power to make my dreams a reality.

I am very fortunate to have the $200K shootout opportunity in a weeks time, I will give it absolutely everything! It would be a huge help to my budget next year, but I am not relying on it solely. The shootout is going to be a fantastic experience for me either way, I’m extremely excited and I’m certain I will meet some great people in the process. I believe I can be a great ambassador for the series, the sponsors and the values they represent and wish to convey. It’s now just a matter of me doing my job. It is vital I tick all the boxes, not just on track. Hopefully my passion, my persistence, and my personality will shine through to the judges. Fingers crossed they like me. 🤞🏻😁

Finally, if you’re reading this and thinking... “Man I love IndyCar, and boy my business has tons of disposable income that I could write off, I’d love to support a rising star committed to reaching the top” please don’t feel shy to drop me a message. 😉😁 I love talking and I’m never far away from an airport, or a car to come and have a discussion.

Thank you everyone for your tremendous support throughout 2018! It means the world!

I will continue to keep you updated with my progress!

Kind Regards, Michael
